Going on a trip to the paradise islands of the Caribbean, allows you to spend privileged moments of relaxation on sunny beaches, while visiting typical cities with colonial architecture and cosmopolitan cultures. The Caribbean corresponds to the territory occupied by the Caribbean Sea, which includes many islands. In its eastern part, we can mention the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Jamaica or Guadeloupe and Martinique.
The Caribbean was first occupied by Amerindians, who were later driven out by settlers, who settled there with many slaves. The abolition of slavery was done progressively on these lands during the 19th century. Today, the Caribbean is made up of several states that are very different from each other. Some have their own autonomy while others are overseas territories belonging to European countries like Guadeloupe which is French. The Caribbean attracts many tourists because of its sunny tropical climate and its paradisiacal beaches. Most of these islands are equipped to welcome visitors, with many hotels and resorts.
In the Caribbean islands, the wonders are multiple between the turquoise and clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, the fine sandy beaches and the coral reefs with bright colors. The cities are marked by their colonial past, with architecture typical of that time. Haiti is a poor country, but it is marked by a dynamic atmosphere as in the city of Port-au-Prince, where the merchants invest the alleys and transform the city into a huge colorful and animated market. The Dominican Republic is a privileged tourist destination for its natural resources. Visitors discover miles of white sandy beaches lined with coconut trees. The city of Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, is a colonial city surrounded by ramparts, with historic streets and countless churches. You will discover the Ozama fortress, a military enclosure built in 1502, with its high towers.
Less touristy places can be explored, looking for colorful fishing harbors and small villages lost in the mountainous regions. Your prestige cruise can also take you to discover Puerto Rico. Hispanic influences are still very strong in this country, with its festive music and its taste for parties. The city of San Juan has a historic district distinguished by the presence of ramparts and pastel-colored houses in the Hispanic-Colonial style. In this place, you have long stretches of beach with clear and fine sand. The waters are warm and ideal for swimming and water sports.
The country also has immense and preserved forests, with a rich flora and fauna. Jamaica is also a great destination for nature immersion, with wild and beautiful beaches, coral reefs full of fish, tropical forests and huge waterfalls like Dunn Falls. The country is known for its cosmopolitan population and its reggae tunes. The curious can tour old plantations in Negril and learn more about rum making by visiting the Hampden Great House Rum Factory. Bays and beaches abound along Jamaica's coastline, including the remarkable Discovery Bay. Kingston is the modern capital of Jamaica, with many hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues.
Going to the Caribbean means finding a warm tropical climate, where temperatures oscillate all year round between 25 degrees and 32 degrees. To sail in the middle of the Caribbean islands, the ideal season is between October and May. This is the dry season, with pleasant temperatures, strong sunshine and little rain. From May to August, the weather is a bit wetter, but well suited for cruises. On the other hand, if you can avoid the rainy season between mid-August and October, you can avoid intense rainfall and strong winds.
The weather is warm and sunny all year round and your is bound to have a taste of paradise vacation. To conclude your Caribbean trip, you can visit French overseas territories like Guadeloupe and Martinique. Guadeloupe, an archipelago made up of seven islands, blends both gentle indolence and warm atmosphere. You can relax on the beautiful coconut-fringed beaches and stroll through the city of Pointe-à-Pitre, which has many museums. Sports enthusiasts can dive in the turquoise lagoons or surf on the black or ochre sand beaches. Blue and green explode on the island of Martinique, with its clear waters, forests, lush gardens or sugar cane fields. Everything is gathered in the Caribbean to offer you an unforgettable stay, so much the beauty of these islands is bewitching.
