6 Things to Know About Princess Cruises' Sapphire Princess

Princess Cruises' Sapphire Princess is a Gem-class cruise ship that entered service in 2004. She is the sister ship of the Diamond Princess, and both were constructed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki, Japan. Notably, during construction, a fire led to a name swap between the two vessels, resulting in the current Sapphire Princess being originally intended as the Diamond Princess.
