A heavenly destination to suit all budgets

Nearby, at Mount Hillaby, you'll find a dense natural environment with caves linked by underground rivers, including Harrison's cave, where beautiful waterfalls come to life with an escort of stalactites and stalagmites all around. Barbados also boasts a diversity of flora and fauna, amid lush green hills and lush valleys. On one of your walks through natural parks such as Barbados Wild Life, you'll discover the habitat of caimans, iguanas and turtles.

If, on the other hand, you've come to Barbados for its historical sites and monuments, the city of Bridgetown, as the capital, is a must. Here you'll have the opportunity to admire not only the architecture of the island's grand colonial houses and typical homes, but also emblematic sites that tell the story of the island's history and culture. These include the home of the young George Washington and the Barbados Museum and Historical Society.

Cricket fans can learn more about the sport by visiting the "Crickets Legend of Barbados" museum, where the history of cricket in the Caribbean is highlighted. Of course, when we talk about Barbados, we're also talking about its dream beaches and translucent waters. If you want to enjoy the island's most beautiful beaches in complete tranquillity, opt for Bottom Bay, a heavenly spot on the outskirts of Paynes Bay. If you're a little more adventurous, admire the coral reef while scuba diving. If you like surfing, head for the sublime beaches of Bathsheba and Cattlewash, where the waves are in full swing. Knowing that the island is also renowned for its nightlife, you'll have the opportunity to learn the rhythmic Caribbean dances at the open-air discotheque known as the Reggae Lounge, followed by a drink in the trendy bars of Saint Lawrence Gap. Want to feel like a Caribbean in just a few days? Attend the Barbados Jazz Festival in January, take in a cricket match at Kensington Oval on a weekend and spend a Friday evening in the fishing village of Oistins for succulent seafood. Bajan fish" and "saltfish buljol" with cod accras are typical island dishes.

A year-round destination

Barbados enjoys a typically tropical climate, with two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. On the one hand, the dry season is the high season, from February to April. During this period, temperatures are regulated by the north-easterly trade winds. On the other hand, the rainy season is what we call the "Lent" period, which runs from April to December. The east coast receives the most rain during this period. Nevertheless, Barbados enjoys almost 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, with 8 to 9 hours of sunshine a day. That said, whatever the time of year, temperatures vary between 21°C and 31°C. So you can travel to Barbados at any time of year without difficulty.
