The Fridtjof Nansen was assembled in 2020, at the Kleven Yards shipyard in Norway. 140 meters long and 23.6 meters wide, it is made up of 11 bridges. The Fridtjof Nansen can carry 530 passengers during the cruise (500 in Antarctica) and 150 crew members.
Traveling aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen, your cruise will be all about exploration and discovery. Stopovers on land are offered every day by the expedition team, aboard small Zodiac-type boats. Supervised by specialists, these excursions will be an opportunity to discover the fauna, flora and surprising landscapes.
On board the boat you can observe the sea, the coasts of different countries and the glaciers, from the interior and exterior observation deck. Also, the Science Center will allow you to use scientific instruments and tactile devices. And you will be able to engage in fascinating discussions with the ship's crew and the expedition team, which will be supplemented by the particularly instructive lectures.
The library also provides documentation. You can, between two stopovers, recharge your batteries in the spa, in the panoramic sauna and especially in the infinity pool on deck 10 and its two whirlpool baths.
Athletes can train in the fitness room or on the running track and outdoor gym area.
On this state-of-the-art expedition ship, HX-Expeditions has provided three restaurants where you can taste the best of Norwegian and Scandinavian cuisine.
L'Aune is the main dining room. The Fredheim is perfect for a simple snack or meal. And the Lindstrøm is a Norwegian gourmet restaurant with supplement (included for suite passengers).
Finally, the Explorer lounge bar, on deck 10, is ideal for enjoying a hot or alcoholic drink, while admiring the polar landscapes.
The ship is ultra modern and focused on the observation of landscapes. Thus, all the cabins benefit from a view of the sea via a porthole, a porthole or a balcony (half of the cabins). The decoration is particularly neat and HX-Expeditions has used Scandinavian materials. The outside cabins, from 17 to 23 m² are equipped with convertible double beds.
The cabins in the Arctic Superior category are more spacious and more comfortable (15 to 27 m²).
Finally, for an unforgettable trip, treat yourself to an Expedition suite from 20 to 48 square metres. Some even have a private outdoor hot tub.
The MS Fridtjof Nansen is one of HX Expeditions most environmentally friendly ships. This hybrid ship has hybrid propulsion engines and is equipped with LNG (liquefied natural gas). This technology makes cruising more environmentally friendly with batteries that significantly reduce emissions, also in conjunction with shore power.
Also, HX Expeditions has removed single-use packaging (cutlery, water bottles, soap bottles & shower gel). Moreover, a water bottle is offered to passengers that they can fill at water points on the boat in order to hydrate themselves and to replace plastic bottles.
