Founded in 1986 by Atle Brynstad and Warren Titus, Seabourn Cruise Line introduced a new vision of sea travel with the launch of the Seabourn Pride in 1988. Specializing in intimate luxury cruises, the company offers refined itineraries aboard elegant yachts that feature only ocean-view suites. Now part of Carnival Corporation, its fleet includes both sophisticated cruise yachts and expedition ships. The company sails to over 400 destinations, from the Mediterranean to Antarctica.
Launched in 2011, the Seabourn Quest accommodates about 450 guests in a refined and intimate setting. Measuring 650 ft in length and featuring expansive outdoor areas, it offers only ocean-view suites. Its design emphasizes comfort, natural light, and highly personalized service. The Seabourn Quest represents the brand’s original spirit, combining understated elegance, exceptional cuisine, and thoughtfully curated itineraries. Its size allows it to access exclusive ports and stay longer at each destination.
The Seabourn Encore (launched in 2016) and the Seabourn Ovation (launched in 2018) each host about 600 guests in a modern and elegant environment. Both yachts are 689 ft long and maintain Seabourn’s signature style while offering an additional deck, larger suites, and expanded public areas such as the spectacular Observation Bar. Dining is especially refined, including a restaurant by chef Thomas Keller. These ships sail on a variety of itineraries, combining major capitals with more off-the-beaten-path ports.
Built for polar regions and off-the-grid destinations, the expedition ships Seabourn Venture (launched in 2022) and Seabourn Pursuit (launched in 2023) carry 264 guests in discreet luxury. Each ship is 558 ft long, certified PC6 for polar navigation, and equipped with Zodiacs®, kayaks, and two submarines. Their modern design and logistical autonomy enable immersive expeditions in the Arctic, Antarctica, and remote tropical regions. Onboard expedition teams enrich each outing with scientific and naturalist expertise. These ships deliver a luxury expedition cruise experience, blending five-star comfort with discovery in the Arctic, Antarctic, or Amazon.
Seabourn stands out with its ultra-luxury, small-scale ships—ranging from 132 to 300 suites—offering access to exclusive ports beyond traditional cruise routes.
Every suite offers an ocean view, with exceptional service provided by a crew-to-guest ratio close to 1:1.
All dining is included, featuring restaurants by Michelin-starred chefs and unique experiences like Caviar in the Surf, where caviar is served while your feet are in the water.
Expedition ships allow guests to explore remote regions using Zodiacs, submarines, and onboard expert teams.
The onboard atmosphere is both sophisticated and relaxed, like a private club enriched by cultural events, shared moments, and constant attention to every guest.
In 2024, Seabourn earned over sixty prestigious awards. Its yachts were ranked No. 1 in the categories of “Best Small Ship” and “Best Expedition Ship” by readers of Condé Nast Traveler. The Seabourn Ovation and Seabourn Pursuit were featured in Condé Nast Traveler’s “Gold List” and “Hot List,” respectively, recognizing the world’s best ships and standout new offerings. In 2024, the company took second place in U.S. News rankings for luxury cruises, couples’ cruises, and Mediterranean cruises. Travel Weekly named it Best Small Ship Cruise Line (under 1,000 passengers), while the Magellan Awards honored it across categories including service, cabins, dining, entertainment, and polar exploration—cementing Seabourn’s position as the benchmark for ultra-luxury at sea.
Seabourn is actively reducing its environmental footprint through the Operation Oceans Alive program, which engages all onboard personnel in preserving marine ecosystems, minimizing waste, and raising guest awareness. Its ships feature advanced wastewater treatment systems, complemented by technologies like digesters and food waste recycling. Newer ships, such as the Seabourn Encore, benefit from optimized hydrodynamic design, diesel-electric propulsion, and gas generators with scrubbers to reduce atmospheric emissions.
At the same time, Seabourn supports local communities, such as the Wunambal Gaambera in Australia, by combining philanthropy, cultural engagement, and participation in expedition activities.
Seabourn offers a wide range of destinations around the world, combining refined comfort, carefully crafted itineraries, and thoughtfully selected ports of call.
Seabourn’s Mediterranean itineraries include stops in iconic cities in Italy and Spain, as well as Mediterranean islands and more exclusive destinations like Portofino, Portoferraio, or Amalfi. Adriatic Sea cruises with calls in Dubrovnik and Kotor are also available. The pace favors extended stays and evening departures, allowing guests to fully enjoy each location.
Greek Islands cruises explore the region’s main archipelagos under ideal conditions, with moorings in charming, small-scale ports like Patmos, Naxos, or Syros, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Seabourn crafts well-balanced itineraries that alternate between ancient heritage sites and laid-back moments, particularly in the Cyclades.
Seabourn’s Caribbean cruises focus on the region’s most pristine islands. Thanks to their small size, Seabourn ships can reach less-visited gems like Terre-de-Haut in the Saintes (Guadeloupe), or Bequia and Mayreau in the Grenadines, while also stopping in well-known ports such as Bridgetown in Barbados and Philipsburg in Saint Martin.
In Asia, Seabourn offers cruises that combine major cities with important cultural landmarks. These Asian cruise itineraries feature stops in Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, with a strong focus on enriching excursions and local immersion. Sample itineraries run between Singapore and Hong Kong, with extended stays in Ho Chi Minh City or Bangkok, along with exclusive stops such as Ko Kood in Thailand or Komodo in Indonesia.
Transatlantic cruises connect Europe to the Americas on journeys designed for enjoying life onboard. The peaceful rhythm of these long sea voyages is occasionally punctuated by well-chosen stops, such as in the Canary Islands, the Azores, or the Caribbean.
For expedition cruising, Seabourn offers Arctic cruises that explore the fjords of Svalbard, Greenland, Iceland, Northern Canada, and sometimes the British Isles. These itineraries feature Zodiac® rides beneath bird-covered cliffs, kayaking past glaciers and ice caps, and landings in Inuit villages or historic Viking sites. An expert expedition team joins guests onboard, enabling close encounters with polar wildlife—including bears, walruses, seals, and seabirds—and cultural exchanges with local communities. Antarctic cruises explore the Antarctic Peninsula, the Falkland Islands, and South Georgia. Guests enjoy Zodiac® landings, kayaking excursions, and expert-led outings to observe an impressive range of wildlife—from penguins to whales.
In the Mediterranean, cruises from Barcelona and cruises from Rome (Civitavecchia) are among the most popular.
Cruises from Dubrovnik are ideal for exploring the Adriatic Sea.
To reach the Greek Islands, many cruises depart from Athens-Piraeus each season, with some itineraries combining Greek island ports and Adriatic stops.
In the Caribbean, Seabourn mainly offers cruises from Bridgetown, cruises from Philipsburg (Saint Martin), as well as cruises from San Juan and cruises from Miami.
Cruises from Reykjavik offer access to Arctic itineraries, including routes to Iceland, Greenland, and Svalbard. Most Antarctic expeditions begin with cruises from Ushuaia.
What services are offered onboard Seabourn ships?
Cuisine is at the heart of Seabourn’s identity. All restaurants are included—no extra charges or fixed dining times. The Restaurant, the main dining room, serves refined cuisine in an elegant setting with plated service on par with world-class restaurants. The Colonnade offers a more relaxed ambiance with themed buffets and dinners inspired by the destinations visited. In the evening, Earth & Ocean transforms the deck into an open-air restaurant, serving creative dishes under the stars.
For casual moments, The Patio serves grilled favorites by the pool. 24-hour in-suite dining allows guests to enjoy meals privately on their balconies. Every meal is paired with carefully selected wines, and all beverages—including champagne, cocktails, and specialty coffees—are included.
Seabourn promotes a refined and peaceful ambiance with a focus on wellness, culture, and exploration. Guests can enjoy yoga, pilates, fitness, or meditation sessions, along with complimentary access to spa facilities such as sauna, steam room, and whirlpool.
The Seabourn Conversations program features guest speakers—authors, explorers, scientists—who enrich the journey with fascinating insights. Evenings are intentionally understated with live music, dance parties, or outdoor movie screenings.
Some itineraries also include Seabourn’s signature events such as Caviar in the Surf or Marina Day, which feature beach barbecues, water sports, and seaside service.
On expedition ships, Zodiac® excursions and guided hikes are included and led by an expert team of naturalists.
All accommodations aboard Seabourn ships are luxurious ocean-view suites decorated in a calming, contemporary style. Amenities are worthy of a five-star hotel: personal suite host, customized minibar, Nespresso machine, Molton Brown toiletries, and balconies in nearly every category.
Among the most exclusive options, the Penthouse Spa Suite stands out with its proximity to the wellness area and unique features: unlimited access to the Serene Spa Zone, a dedicated spa concierge, aromatherapy and music on demand, a healthy mini bar, and premium wellness amenities to extend the relaxing experience.
The Signature Suite, with its spacious living room and wraparound balcony, offers panoramic views ideal for long sea crossings.
For the ultimate in comfort, the Wintergarden Suite features a glass-enclosed solarium with a bathtub, separate sleeping area, and ultra-personalized service.
On expedition ships, every suite includes Swarovski® binoculars and exclusive access to the virtual bridge, allowing guests to follow navigation like an officer.
Seabourn offers an all-inclusive cruise experience, with nearly all services covered in the fare: ocean-view suite accommodations, gourmet dining in all restaurants, 24-hour in-suite service, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and gratuities. Access to onboard shows, cultural activities, wellness areas (excluding treatments), and expert-led Zodiac® excursions on expedition ships is also included.
Only a few services—such as private shore excursions or submarine dives—are available at an additional cost.
Onboard, the atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed. During the day, "Resort Casual" attire—like tailored shorts, smart jeans, or light dresses—is appropriate in public areas, while swimwear is limited to the pool and spa.
After 6 p.m., the "Elegant Casual" dress code applies: men should wear trousers with a shirt or sweater (a jacket is optional), and women may choose a skirt, pants, or a dress—well-kept jeans are accepted.
On formal evenings, guests are invited to wear a suit or tuxedo for men and an evening dress for women, though tuxedos and long gowns are optional. On the expedition ships (Venture and Pursuit), no formal nights are scheduled, allowing for a more casual wardrobe suited to exploration.
Yes, Seabourn has a loyalty program called the Seabourn Club, available starting from the first cruise. It features six levels: Member, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Diamond Elite. Each tier unlocks additional perks such as cruise discounts, shore excursion savings, wine upgrades, internet packages, massages, laundry service, concierge access, and priority boarding.
In addition, the Milestone Cruise Awards grant a free 7-day cruise after 140 days sailed, and a 14-day cruise after 250 days onboard.
Seabourn only permits service animals officially trained to assist individuals with disabilities. Pets, emotional support animals, or any companion animals that do not meet service animal qualifications are not allowed on board, including expedition ships.
Before departure, owners must submit full documentation for the service animal (including vaccination records, permits, etc.) to both Seabourn and local port authorities. Be aware that in certain ports, such as those in Australia, quarantine laws may prevent guests from going ashore with the animal.
