A region rich in monuments and traditions

There are many cities to discover in the Netherlands, from the most modern to the richest from a historical point of view. You can start your journey in Amsterdam , the capital known for its canals and Golden Age merchant houses. To discover in particular, the famous Red Light District and its ladies in the window and its narrow streets, or even interesting art museums such as the Van Gogh Museum, which offers one of the painter's most important collections , or the Rijksmuseum , the equivalent of the Parisian Louvre. Don't miss the New Church in Gothic style, or the Anne Frank House which retraces the tragedy of this little Jewish girl during the Second World War .

Europe's largest commercial port, Rotterdam is also not lacking in interest. More contemporary than its counterpart, the city seduces with its modernity and its buildings. Also new, the city of The Hague is an opportunity to discover recent architecture mixed with Art Nouveau. For more authenticity, head to Delft. Birthplace of the famous painter Vermeer, it reveals a more traditional style as well as monuments rich in history. The town is also known for its earthenware to discover in shops or museums. Oldest city in the country, Maastricht not only gave its name to a European treaty. The city on the border with Belgium is also known for its cobbled streets and its antiques fair, the largest in the world. And if you want to get into the very heart of Dutch culture, head to Marten. This small typical village still allows you to meet old inhabitants in clogs and traditional costume. But the kingdom of the Netherlands is also an important nature to discover, especially at the Keukenhof, in the town of Lisse. It is now the largest bulb park in the world, and in the spring it allows you to appreciate more than seven million tulips, as well as narcissi or hyacinths. A flower parade is organized in this expanse of more than 32 hectares in mid-April. A true symbol of the Netherlands, the Kinderdijk is represented on almost all postcards. You will discover an alignment of nineteen mills in two rows. These monuments, which still stand proudly, were built in the 18th century, right in a marshy area, revealing landscapes of great beauty.

A temperate climate with maritime accents

You will find a temperate climate in the Netherlands, nourished by the influences of the North Sea. This marine contribution thus causes mild summers, but quite rainy, as well as winters that are cooler than cold. It is not uncommon for the country to experience quite strong winds in winter.
